The Emerald of South America

Green, leafy and enormously forested, dotted with beautiful towns, idyllic villages, rivers and bathed by the bewitching waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This is Brazil, the largest country in South America with the most exciting secrets and hidden wonders. Definitely a place that will only be complete when you arrive.

As your Pullmantur cruise approaches the Brazilian coast, you'll see as its amalgam of green tones begin to melt to give way to the pristine white sands of the beaches and intense turquoise of the calm waters that wash upon the shore.

But besides its spectacular nature, thanks to which Brazil is known as the lungs of the world, this country has some of the most fascinating cities you've ever visited. We speak, of course, of cities like the capital Brasilia and a city where you can discover the work of world renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. Or there are the coastal cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where the carnival goes from being a party to becoming a bona fide religion.

Rio de Janeiro, the gateway to dazzling urban Brazil

In a privileged enclave of Guanabara Bay and at the foot of several hills, the 'wonderful city' of Rio de Janeiro is located. Up on Corcovado, one of the hills that watch over Rio de Janeiro, you will find one of the seven wonders of the modern world in Christ The Redeemer. But Rio, as this city is commonly known, is much more. You will see this for yourself as soon as you set foot in its dazzling avenues.

Although, if what you want is the authentic experience, it's essential that you go to the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. There you can relax, sunbathe and swim in their calm waters, or stroll barefoot along the shore while feeling the soft touch of the sand under your feet. From there you can switch to the beaches of Sao Paulo, the city that houses the best carnivals in the world. With permission from Rio, of course.

But the real jewel in the crown is Brasilia, located in the heart of the country. This is the official capital of Brazil and the only city built during the twentieth century which has the honor of being a World Heritage Site. Among its hundreds of attractions, we recommend you visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady Aparecida, and the building of the National Congress, the seat of legislative power.

Brazil, the world's largest forest

Of all the things that make Brazil one of the most extraordinary destinations in the world and full of excursions from Pullmantur, there is one that will overwhelm you; the vast Amazon jungle. This huge array of impressive cedars, almandrillos and cascara trees is the largest on Earth as far as tropical forests are concerned.

To encourage the flora of the Amazon to always look lush and green, the forest is crossed by the river of the same name, the largest river in the world. This is a huge waterway that runs through the Amazon in capricious, meandering ways.

But the stunning Brazilian nature is not just in the countryside, but also has its place in urban centers. Proof of this is the Sugar Loaf, an impressive mountain that serves as the best vantage point of carioca horizon, or the Botanical Garden of the city. The latter has several examples of giant water lily, the largest in the world.

Everything described should give you enough reasons to want to visit Brazil. But wait! Because we still have two details that you will also love to hear. It has a very rich cuisine and beautiful weather with temperatures that rarely exceed 30 degrees.
