Travel to Spain from Greece via the Aegean and the Mediterranean

Athens, the capital of Greece, is a city full of monuments. Alas, it is far from the sea, so Pullmantur's Cruise From the Aegean Sea to the Mediterranean begins in the Piraeus, which is considered to be the Greek capital's port. In addition to visiting this city, during the 8 days and 7 nights that this Pullmantur cruise lasts we'll see different attractions in Chania, which is also in Greece, Valletta (Malta), Cagliari (Italy) and the Spanish cities of Cartagena and Malaga.

As the days pass, you will also be able to contemplate and explore various landscapes in the Aegean and the Mediterranean region, including the Hormigas Islands, Palomas and Plana Islands off the coast of Cartagena, the White Mountains Botanical Park near Chania, or Melieha Bay Malta. The latter, which is also called Ghadira Bay, is home to one of Malta's longest beaches.

This Pullmantur cruise will also give you the option to taste different typical dishes in the four countries we'll visit. Savour Maltese Bigilla, a deli version of hummus that is made with purple beans, olive oil, chilli, parsley and garlic, and eaten with goat cheese, or treat yourself to Cagliari's typical Fregula with arselle, a standard dish made with clams.

Athens and Valletta, two important destinations on this Pullmantur cruise

When traveling to Athens on Pullmantur's Cruise From the Aegean Sea to the Mediterranean you can photograph some of the most famous monuments in Greece, such as the different ruins that make up the Acropolis or the Hellenic Parliament Building, located in the Old Royal Palace, an outstanding example of Aegean neoclassical architecture.

Later, check out Chania, another Greek destination on this Pullmantur cruise, where you simply must visit the Venetian Port, the Mosque of the Janissaries and the Splantziá and Ovriaki districts. The first of these neighbourhoods has a great variety of buildings featuring Turkish architecture, a result of the previous Ottoman occupation of the Greek island of Crete.

"Discover the monuments of Chania"

After a day of sailing we'll arrive in the port of Valletta, the first Mediterranean stop on Pullmantur's Cruise From the Aegean Sea to the Mediterranean. The Palace of the Grand Master, the Palace of Saint Anthony and the National Museum of Fine Arts are the key pieces of tourism in Valletta, a city full of picturesque streets and monumental buildings. St John's Cathedral is one of the most important examples of Malta's Renaissance architecture.

Lovely Cagliari, a must-see stop for trips to Italy

The last island that you'll visit on Pullmantur's Cruise From the Aegean Sea to the Mediterranean is Sardinia. Here you can visit Cagliari, its capital, a city that boasts important Italian ruins, such as the Roman Amphitheatre, and different works of medieval architecture, such as the Tower of Saint Pancracio or the Castle of Saint Michele, both from the 14th century.

In Spain, the first stop of this Pullmantur cruise is Cartagena, a city founded over 2000 years ago by the Carthaginians. In addition to the Roman remains of the city, such as the Roman Theatre, here you can check out great examples of Spanish modernist architecture throughout the city centre.

"Photograph Cartagena's Art Nouveau architecture!"

Finally, we dock in scenic Malaga, where you can see the famous and busy Larios street, visit the Picasso museum, and check out different monuments such as the Alcazaba, La Manquita Cathedral or the Church of Santo Cristo de la Salud. Of all of them, the Alcazaba stands out as it is one of the most important Muslim strongholds of Spain and is located next to another one of Malaga's iconic, defensive buildings: Gibralfaro Castle.
