From Lisbon to Rostock, experience Europe's Atlantic coastline with Pullmantur

The western end of Europe is home to many of the countries that have been decisive throughout the historical, social, economic and cultural development of the Old Continent. This natural border has an important network of cities full of outstanding monuments and surrounded, in many cases, by some of the most impressive natural landscapes in Europe.

Spend 9 days and 8 nights taking it all in on this Pullmantur cruise From South to North of Europe, which brings you closer to key European cities like the ones that give this itinerary its name. We start off in the capital of Portugal and wrap things up in one of north-eastern Germany's most fascinating cities. Along the way we'll visit Vigo, Cherbourg, Dover, Ijmuiden and Kiel.

In this way, Pullmantur takes you to the Iberian countries of Portugal and Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Holland and Germany. Although the cruise From South to North of Europe starts in Lisbon, if you wish to do so, there is also the possibility of starting this trip in the Galician city of Vigo. If you choose this option, this Pullmantur cruise will last one day less and will take you to the same destinations, with the exception of Lisbon.

Lisbon, Vigo, Cherbourg and Dover, from the open sea to the English Channel

The first city we visit on Pullmantur's cruise From South to North of Europe is Lisbon, the capital of, and most populated city in, Portugal. Located in a territory dotted with seven hills, the city is famous for the charming trams that cross its streets. In addition to them, tourism in Lisbon will take you, among other monuments, to the famed Belém Tower, Saint George's Castle and the Carriage Museum.

About 450 kilometres north of Lisbon one finds Vigo, the olive city. This is one of the most delightful ports of travel in Galicia, as the city not only boast the monumental College of Santa Maria or the Praza da Constitución, but also because some of the best landscapes in Spain, the Ciés Islands, are just a few kilometres away.

"The Tower of Belém, one of the most famous monuments in Lisbon"

After covering the western coast of France we arrive in the English Channel's two  grand cities. The first, on the French side, is Cherbourg, famous for being home to the Castle of Ravel Tourlaville and the Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum. On the other hand, the other city, English Dover, stands out, among other attractions, for being home to the South Foreland Lighthouse and the famous white cliffs of its surroundings. The latter are undoubtedly one of the most outstanding natural sites in the United Kingdom.

Travel to Holland and get lost in the streets of eastern Germany

After Dover you will disembark in Ijmuiden, a town on the coast of the Netherlands which serves as the port of Amsterdam. Amsterdam is one of Holland's three capitals and is the tourist centre of the city. While here, make sure to visit the Anne Frank House, the Rembrandt House Museum or the Van Gogh Museum, among other local monuments.

After a day of sailing we arrive in Germany, destination country of the Pullmantur cruise From Southern to Northern Europe. The first of the German ports which we'll approach is Kiel, bathed by the waters of the Baltic Sea. Built at the end of the Kiel Fjord, the city boasts sites like the Town Hall building, the Kiel Canal and the nearby Navy Memorial, Ploen Castle or Lake Edeberg.

"The Van Gogh Museum, a must-see site in Amsterdam"
Finally, this Pullmantur cruise comes to an end at the second German port on our journey, Rostock. One of the most important German coast cities in the former GDR is home to important monuments including Market Square, the Church of St. Peter (consisting of a German Gothic tower that is 117 meters tall) or the Church of Saint Mary.
