Azzura: a seven-day cruise through France, Malta and Italy

The Azzura cruise starts in the pretty harbour town of Marseille on the south coast of France. We enjoy a day at sea relaxing on-board as we sail to Valletta, the historic and beautiful capital of Malta. The next day Azzura heads to Italy, where we dock at Trapani on the coast of Sicily. Next we move onto the port town of Civitavecchia, from where you can take a day trip to see the many historical sights of Rome. Azzura then heads to the pretty port town of Livorno, before sailing to the elegant corsican town of Ajaccio. We then set sail for the last time, heading back to our starting point of Marseille.

Activities on offer throughout the Azzura cruise

On the Azzura cruise we will take you through six towns and cities and three countries to really give you a taste of the Mediterranean. You can join us on an excursion in the historical port town of Marseille, where you can wander through its old town and arts district, take a boat cruise around the coast and enjoy the local seafood dish, bouillabaisse. We then head to the Maltese capital, Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meander around the beautiful city and admire its 16th century architecture and be spoilt for choice whether to take in a museum, visit the Grand Master’s Palace, St. John’s Cathedral or visit some of the cities historic fortresses.

In Trapani, on the coast of Sicily, you can visit the many churches here or the Museo Nazionale Pepoli full with local arts and crafts, or take a boat trip around the nearby islands. Next we head to Civitavecchia, a port town close enough to Rome for a day trip to this magnificent city. Visit the world-famous Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, The Vatican, and the 200-year old Pantheon, and stop off for lunch for some traditional and authentic Italian cuisine.

In Livorno you can enjoy a change of pace in this relaxing coastal town, enjoying walks by the pretty belle époque seafront and on the pebble beach and meander along its Venetian-style canals. In Ajaccio you can enjoy a taste of Corsica in the birthplace of Napoleon, and visit the many museums in the city dedicated to him. There is also a beautiful seafront to enjoy, as well as many relaxed cafes and restaurants to sit and enjoy an espresso or leisurely lunch before we head back to Marseille to finish our Azzura cruise.

Croisières de France, a Grupo Pullmantur's brand, has more than 40 years’ experience in offering comfortable and relaxing cruises with stimulating excursions, providing guests with a more ‘local’ experience.
